Summary
ACCESS-3DP ("Art & Creative Craft Enterprises for Successful Streaming of 3D Printing") was an Erasmus+ KA202 strategic partnership (October 2020 – March 2023, €346,963 EU grant) that built an openly licensed vocational course bringing additive manufacturing to traditional and creative craft industries. The consortium — Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France, coordinator), CETEM (Spain), CTCP (Portugal), Štajerski Tehnološki Park (Slovenia), and the Technical University of Košice (Slovakia) — produced a joint curriculum, a detailed trainer guide, an OER strategy report, and a multilingual e-learning (MOOC) platform with six modules: (1) innovation processes in traditional sectors, (2) design thinking and skills, (3) 3D printing and the production process, (4) current processes and application fields, (5) entrepreneurship and 3D printing for new business ideas, and (6) advanced industrial robotics applied to crafts. All training material is licensed CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, per the consortium's published OER strategy. Guiding Principles
- Open Source — All course materials released as OER under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, with a published licensing strategy aligned to Erasmus+ programme rules.
- Transferable Skills — Designed for working craftspeople: modules map AM skills onto existing trades (furniture, footwear, creative crafts) rather than requiring an engineering degree, and Module 5 is explicitly dedicated to 3D-printing-enabled new business ideas, treating AM as an income opportunity for micro-enterprises.
- Community Self-Sufficiency — Targets small craft firms and VET providers, building local production capacity instead of outsourcing fabrication.
- STEM Integration — Connects design thinking, production engineering, and robotics into one validated vocational curriculum.
Learning Outcomes & Transferable Skills
Learners gain 3D Printing process competence, CAD and design-thinking skills (Module 2), Entrepreneurship (business model development around AM), Project Management (innovation processes), and Sustainability Literacy (distributed, on-demand production's role in craft economies). Trainers gain a validated curriculum structure with learning outcomes per module, usable directly in VET programs.
